Up in the Sky, The Ron Paul Blimp
December 7th, 2007
The interesting innovations surrounding Ron Paul continue as the Ron Paul Bimp takes to the air. The schedule has just been released. The inaugural launch is scheduled for December 10th from Elizabeth City, NC
and then to Boston, MA by December 15th, that is if 200,000 can be raised by midnight tonight to keep it afloat.
From the official site:
We created a business plan that allows any US citizen to buy as much blimp as they want without having it count towards their current campaign contributions. Former chairman of the FEC, Brad Smith, one of the top U.S. election lawyers, has been retained as our lawyer. This updated legal arrangement offers the best of both worlds, no limits and virtually no regulations.
So, we formed a for profit company called Liberty Political Advertising, LLC. which allows a US citizen to “sponsor” a pre-selected political message. The key staff members will be paid a weekly salary to keep this operation running and to take care of expenses incurred along the way while they are away from their families and homes. We have a disclosure page that we will release shortly and we will link to it both on this page and the main page. The disclosure page will do it’s best to account for all income and expenses and make this new company as transparent as possible.
So in short this, like many of the grassroots components surrounding the candidate, is not a part of the official campaign but is dedicated to him. It also, from the site, looks as through the blimp will have justin.tv integration, Google Maps GPS integration and a bunch more going on to give us Internet users some live experience.
