You are very correct. Obama had to do all these requests because these things are essential things that the greedy people refuse to pay attention to. The projects are useful projects that help the community, the security of the country, education etc. Is Obama earmarks not better than pouring the economy into Iraq and tax cuts for rich oil company CEOs? The common man has nobody to fight for them, that is why Obama is making all these requests. We should actually congratulate him for championing the course of the common man tha McCain calls the fundamentals of the economy. McCain only sees the common man as instrument of creating wealth for the few people at the top to share.

The term "Pork" and "Earmarks" are often misrepresented and/or confused. Earmarks are not always a bad thing... just use some common sense. Personally I don't mind my tax money going to help with truly helpful and needed things like education, medical research, etc. even if it's for another state. This "me first and only and to heck with you" mentality is part of why we're in the mess we're in. Americans need help each other and to work together for the greater good... sort of like what Jesus taught in the Gospels.
