Democratic Schadenfreude

March 26th, 2008

As someone who revels in schadenfreude, or the taking of pleasure from misfortune, I have to say the Democratic race has turned from a very interesting study in political history to a three-ring circus so entertaining it rivals any reality TV drama VH1 could muster. It is a calamity so bold it has the potential of being a case study for history students in how not to manage a national party.

This amazing and never-ending display of ineptitude and a graceless disregard for common decency also contains an equally compelling cast of secondary characters. Who wouldn’t want to watch the Rev. Jermiah Wright locked in a house with Geraldine Ferraro? Who wouldn’t enjoy seeing Bill Richardson’s evil mustached doppelganger forced into a confrontation with Bill Clinton fresh off a fast food binge in a Vegas casino?

I have to say, as I stand witness to what could eventually be a democratic hat-trick, I am in awe of the parties ability to let victory slip through its fingers so often and when all the cards are stacked so heavily in their favor. The party of Dukakis & Kerry, Gore & Mondale seems almost destined to failure and to tearing its limbs from itself time and time and time again.

The sweet irony of this story is that Democrats are racing to ruin over two candidates who share almost the exact same position on every issue facing the nation. All that separates them is a fight over style and who amongst them has the most of the least experience.

In the end Democrats have one final hope. That John McCain will do or say something so profoundly stupid it will ruin his chances and sink his party. Considering his past, it is more likely than not it will happen.

Here’s to November!

I want to make a point that if our Dems would just force together then we would be unstoppable. The best of both worlds. Strong and tested with hope and genuineness. Why are there no more people saying BAND TOGETHER. They would complete eachother in the political world. To me it would not matter who was on top as long as there was an active role by both canidates. But I want to say that if they both are not on the ticket my vote would go to John Mccain and thats all there is to it. I know that I am not the only one with this view about one or the other or both. So why can’t we band together and get the ball rolling on a dual ticket. If anyone reading this has the same view about a dream ticket then get out there and post something on every political site that you can find. Hell start posting it on Republican sites lets get the news out there that we want them on the same ticket. Lets not tear apart our party lets get going now! Go and start posting!! Save our party.

After they basically called each other incompetent idiots you would want to see them together? Screw this dual ticket nonsense. I want them to go old school. Most votes becomes POTUS and second most votes becomes V.P. I would love to see a mixed ticket cause it would show balance.
