Clinton Without Class
June 5th, 2008
I don’t usually offer opinions like this on the blog but I really felt this one. While I have kept my personal preferences to myself now that Senator Clinton is out of the race let me say I was initially a supporter of her bid for the presidency. I thought she had the experience, would bring sound moderate politics to the office and I liked the idea of returning the nation to where it was when President Clinton was in office.
Watching her lie about sniper fire, tear up at every moment for the cameras and run a pretty terrible campaign from January on was disappointing, but I still liked her. Then I saw her “concession” speech on Tuesday and watched her spend the last couple days make an ass out of herself and those who supported her.
No one likes losing, everyone wants to feel important, but life has winners and losers in it and wisdom gained through experience helps you understand that point. Instead of gracefully exiting and letting the winner have his moment in the sun, she has done everything imaginable, including dropping out of nowhere her willingness to be VP “for the party” to make herself the focus. This hasn’t been right, it hasn’t been a great moment for the party, her actions the last few days have lacked class.
I am an independent, I don’t yet know which of the two remaining candidates I will vote for and though I may someday create other sites where I express my choice, I will keep it off this blog until the race is done, if I ever bring it up at all. As a moderate, just because I supported Clinton doesn’t by any means relate to me voting for Obama, whom I have reservations about, though McCain is no prize yet either. I will say, I am disappointed in Mrs. Clinton and believe her departure has been a very terrible end to a pretty disappointing campaign.
