September 18th, 2008

Construction for the 2009 swearing-in ceremony is about to begin at the U.S. Capitol according to this press release from the Architect of the Capitol.

Beginning Monday, September 22nd 2008, the lower terrace of the West Front of the United States Capitol will be closed for the construction of the 2009 Presidential Inaugural stands.

Fencing will be erected around the construction site and there will be no access to the Member and staff entrance on the lower terrace. Public tours will be re-routed directing visitors to exit from the North and South doors as appropriate.

The West Front will be re-opened in mid-February 2008 following the Inaugural activities and the removal of the stands.

The presidential swearing-in takes place January 20, 2009, on the West Front of the U.S. Capitol.

It is hard to believe it but we are almost to the end of this campaign!
