Bloomberg a Republican No More

NYC Mayor Michael Bloomberg, rumored heavily to be a potential Independent party candidate for president, has announced he is leaving the Republican party. Is it another step toward a run OR is it just a move for his own personal beliefs? I am sure the speculation will never end over this until he either runs OR the election is over.

Bloomberg @ Google

Well considering Hillary Clinton, John McCain, John Edwards & Bill Richardson have all done it, Mayor Michael Bloomberg, the much rumored potential 2008 independent candidates visit to Google could and has been speculated upon as a sign he is running. Though at the event he said he would serve out his term as Mayor (through 2009) BUT wouldn’t rule out a bid either.

The Bloomberg Speculation Continues

A report from ABC News is the latest.

At an event last night sponsored by the New York Chapter of the American Association for Public Opinion Research, Ester Fuchs - a Columbia University professor and, until recently, an adviser to New York Mayor Bloomberg - speculated that Bloomberg would run for president as an independent if both parties nominated candidates from their “extreme wings.”

The example was given of Democrats nominating Edwards and Republicans nominating Romney. With that said this former advisor to Bloomberg was not speaking officially and simply speculating based on her opinion and experience.
