The General Election

On June 3rd 2008 the final states in the Democratic Party Nomination process voted. During the day Senator Barack Obama gained enough pledged and pledged-superdelegates to reach 2,118 or the magic number to secure his parties nomination. As of June 4th 2008 the official start of the general election, Senator Hillary Clinton had not officially dropped out of the race. It is still mathmatically impossible for her to secure the nomination.

Race for the Nomination

2008 marks the 55th consecutive election for the presidency of the United States. It will be the first election since 1928 without an incumbant running in the primaries from either party.
