Intelligence
Central Intelligence Agency (CIA)
Involved with collecting intelligence around the world, correlating and evaluating that information in relation to the nations defense and disseminating it to appropriate channels, providing overall coordination of intelligence collection around the world. The CIA assists the Director of the Central Intelligence Agency to perform these tasks.
Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA)
DIA is a Department of Defense combat support agency that provides "military intelligence to warfighters, defense policymakers and force planners, in the Department of Defense and the Intelligence Community, in support of U.S. military planning and operations and weapon systems acquisition."
National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA)
The NGA was born from several previous organizations as technology and intelligence capabilities of the United State Government changed. It was previously NIMA which was created in 1996. Today NGA provides timely, relevant and accurate geospatial intelligence to a variety of departments for the security of the United States.
National Security Agency (NSA)
The NSA "coordinates, directs, and performs highly specialized activities to protect U.S. government information systems and produce foreign signals intelligence information".
Science
National Aeronautics & Space Administration (NASA)
America's Space Agency.
National Science Foundation (NSF)
Created in 1950 "to promote the progress of science; to advance the national health, prosperity, and welfare; to secure the national defense..." NSF funds everything from aeronautics research to nanotechnology to education.
