The Washington Times reports that though Senator Obama raised his hand in a 2007 debate to declare that he was against the decriminalization of pot, the candidate actually has supported that position in the past and continues to support it. His campaign now says Obama mistakenly raised his hand during the debate.
Interestingly enough Obama’s mistaken vote is reminiscent of his time in the Illinois Senate when Obama reportedly voted wrong six times saying he would vote one way, actually voted a different way and then clarified his position by saying he hit the wrong button.
Obama’s position appears to be that he favors decriminalizing marijuana but not legalizing it.

Sphere: Related ContentDespite his longtime alienation of the Right on countless issues, John McCain secured a solid win in a closed Florida Republican primary and is assuming the air of inevitability. Many pundits have been urging John McCain to reach out to conservatives (how novel that would be). In response, he made a small point tonight in his victory speech of emphasizing judges–an olive branch, apparently, in the aftermath of the Alito/Fund kerfuffle.
Well. We hear what he says now. But we know what he has done for years:
Insult the base, trash the base, and pay lip service to the base only when it suits his needs.

It seems radio host and political powerhouse Rush Limbaugh wasn’t too happy about John McCain’s win in Florida. Limbaugh gave a “non-concession” speech in which he refuted the media idea that conservatives like him are on “the demise”.
“All the candidates on our side, for various reasons, are uninspiring or worse and so just as I predicted the base has fractured. Some going here. Some going there.â€
Is this a sign of overall and potentially growing conservative hostility toward McCain.

But to pretend that Senator McCain is the choice of conservatives when exit poll data from every primary state show just the opposite–he is not the choice of conservatives as opposed to the Republican establishment, and that distinction is key,” the conservative talker said. “The Republican establishment, which has long sought to rid the party of conservative influence since Reagan, is feeling a victory today as well as our friends in the media, but both are just far-fetched and wrong.”
