CNN Reporting Obama Did Not Shake Clinton’s Hand

January 28th, 2008

Not exactly hard hitting news but still interesting. A reporter on CNN just noted that Senator Obama was sitting with supporters Senators Ted Kennedy & Claire McCaskill at the president’s State of the Union who both shook Senator Clinton’s hand. Obama however reportedly turned away from Clinton and talked to McCaskill to avoid his rival.

Again, this is about as fluff and useless as you get, but still interesting and can be left to interpretation.

- Paul Kane at Washington Post compared the pre-speech atmosphere as a “high school divided by competing cliques” noting the seating arrangements with Ted Kennedy next to Obama.

- Associated Press also has a write-up about it.

Note originally I suggested Obama was sitting “next to” Senator’s Kennedy & McCaskill when in fact McCaskill was seated to the left of Kennedy. I thank Stephen for pointing this out.

  1. Stephen Says:

Obama is next to Teddy, but not next to Claire McCaskill.

I saw the three, Kennedy, Obama & McCaskill come in together. I thought she was also sitting somewhere near Obama. I don’t have my DVR unfortunately so I cannot re-wind to double check. I will have to see.
