Asked if Sarah Palin had the necessary foreign policy experience to be President First Lady Laura Bush said today “”Of course she doesn’t have that.” Ms. Bush added however “she is a quick study.”

Just to add some opinion, if the Bush administration is trying hard to sink McCain’s campaign, they are doing a magnificent job today. If not, WOW!

Rangel calls Sarah Palin “Disabled”

September 19th, 2008

Embattled NY Representative Charles Rangel, who just wrote six checks for about $10,800 in back taxes he owed while heading the House Ways & Means Committee just said the following in an interview to WCBSTV:

“You got to be kind to the disabled,” Rangel said.

That’s right. The chairman of the powerful House Ways & Means Committee called Palin disabled — even when CBS 2 HD called him on it.

CBS 2 HD: “You got to be kind to the disabled?”

Rangel: “Yes.”

Republicans were quick to respond.

“Charlie Rangel’s comments are clearly disgraceful,” Rep. Peter King, R-Long Island, said. “This is just another liberal Democrat who can’t accept an independent woman running for president.”

King, who is co-chair of the McCain-Palin campaign in New York, watched Rangel’s comments with CBS 2 HD. He was particularly upset because Palin’s 4-month-old son, Trig, is disabled. He has Down’s syndrome.

David Kernell, son of Dem Rep, claims email hack responsibility

September 19th, 2008

David Kernell the son of Tennessee democratic house representative Mike Kernell is claiming responsibility for hacking into Sarah Palin’s email account.

A message was posted by Kernell on the 4chan forum claiming that he was behind the attack, which he says involved little more than online research to find the necessary information to request a password reset.

“It took seriously 45 mins on Wikipedia and Google to find the info, birthday? 15 seconds on Wikipedia, zip code? Well she had always been from Wasilla, and it only has 2 zip codes,” says the message, posted under the alias Rubico.

Kernell claims in the message that the motivation for the attack was to see if rumours that Palin had used her personal email account for business, which is not allowed under US law, were true. He claims that after reading every email in the account that this was not the case.

Additionally reports are that the accounts of Sarah Palin’s family and staff were also hacked.

Kernell’s father confirmed that his son was the subject of speculation but declined to give further comment.

“Yesterday, the Department received a referral alleging that the personal e-mail accounts of Gov. Sarah Palin, her staff, and her family had been unlawfully hacked. The Department is reviewing the matter,” Justice Department spokeswoman Laura Sweeney said on Thursday.

Playing the tax game again

September 12th, 2008

I have to be honest, if there is anything less interesting in an election cycle it is looking over a candidates taxes. At least when you look over endless campaign finance documents you could possibly find a smoking gun or learn a thing or two about a candidates overall strategy. The many years of IRS filings for an individual candidate though, that right there is a snoozer.

Just like they did with Hillary Clinton though the Obama campaign now hopes to turn Sarah Palin’s tax returns into a major campaign issue. Today Joe Biden released ten years of his own (Oh great, there goes my weekend… nah forget that I am not going to bother) and the Obama camp is already putting out the “when will Sarah Palin release them, when will Sarah Palin release them) game.

Earlier in the year the hype surrounded Hillary Clinton’s tax returns. Her failure to release them on the Obama timetable gave journalists lots to write about and bloggers lots to speculate over. “There must be some kind of conspiracy, they must show Clinton is lying about something, she must be on someones take!” But just like Obama’s birth certificate, they revealed absolutely nothing of interest when we finally got our grubby little hands on them. All we found out was that Clinton, like Obama and everyone else who runs for president, makes more money than most of us do or ever will. Wow, shocker!

I can just see the blog posts questioning if some crazy Alaskan cessationist cult bent on banning books and feeding babbies mind control juice and gives dentists molar probe listening devices pays her bills. In reality they undoubtedly contain the same boring information all of our taxe returns contain. Still, I am sure MSNBC and CNN right now are talking about it and precious space will be devoted to it in the New York Times this weekend.

Cannot wait.

Using Clinton to fight Palin

September 5th, 2008

Reacting to Senator Obama’s declaration that the surge had succeeded but had done so beyond anyone’s “wildest expectations” Sarah Palin had this to say today:

He said it was doomed to fail. But just last night, Sen. Obama finally broke and brought himself to admit what all of us have known for quite some time, and that’s that thanks to the skill and valor of our troops, the surge in Iraq has succeeded,” Palin said.

“I guess when you turn out to be profoundly wrong on a vital national security issue, maybe it’s comforting to pretend that everyone else was wrong, too.”
