Obama’s Anti-Gambling Past Hits Vegas
January 18th, 2008
As the Democratic candidates campaign throughout Nevada Senator Hillary Clinton’s campaign is pointing out an inconvenient truth, that Senator Barack Obama apparently opposes gambling. Specifically the Clinton camp has pointed to comments by Obama in which he declared gambling contains a “moral and social cost” that could “devastate” poor communities. Also as an Illinois state senator he opposed plans to expand gambling believing it could hurt low-income populations.
Unlike the Illinois Senator Clinton has embraced the gambling industry and its executives and now hopes Obama’s past will hurt him in the state.
