Officially a Homeowner

April 16th, 2008

This is just a personal note but last night my wife and I officially become homeowners. No more stinky apartment with pot smoking weirdo’s who play atmospheric music at three in the morning. No more ice encrusted car sitting outside all winter destroying every inch of my ride. Just the everyday bliss of having a mortgage over your head and endless projects for nights and weekends. WOOHOO!

Wordpress Install Call to Undefined Function Error

March 30th, 2008

This is just a note for anyone who went to upgrade to Wordpress 2.5 and suddenly saw a “call to undefined function” error spring up. You need to go into wp-includes and delete plugin.php

Then grab a fresh copy plugin.php from the installation package and upload that to wp-includes

For some reason, that solves the problem. I don’t know why, but it did for me.

Just a word on the install I HATE the new interface. Literally want to throw this thing against the wall, sorry but its true. 2.5 is an upgrade that actually changes some things so you may want to wait and look more into it before upgrading if you like everything working as is.

Weathermen & Pundits

February 26th, 2008

Weatherman and pundits are both almost always wrong.

This is probably the tenth time this winter the weather people spent a week saying a massive storm would come in and wipe out our area. It is also the tenth time it hasn’t happened.

So from now on I am taking dual roles here at Election Geek becoming both a pundit and a weatherman, two jobs where you can make things up, like lake effect snow.

Prediction #1, tomorrow 895 degrees, light rain, and Mike Huckabee will win the Republican nomination!

Lazy Saturday

February 16th, 2008

Not much is happening right now in the presidential race, just the typical back and forth so I am taking this saturday to relax. For those who don’t know last weekend was a bit hectic in the health department. A very bad infection left me passed out after hitting a coffee table on the way down and in the hospital. JOY! But luckily I am back though I still cannot hear out of one ear very well and am quite dizzy.

Today I am just sitting around. I had some celery and peanut butter, yum, now I am reading Jim Cramer’s Real Money: Sane Investing in an Insane Worldy and relaxing. If any breaking news occurs I will be there, otherwise I am going to enjoy the day!

Todays Four Fark-Like Media Narratives of Election 2008

February 8th, 2008

1) Old & Busted: Hillary Clinton, New Hotness: Barack Obama
2) Mitt Romney is out but France still surrenders
3) Conservatives don’t want but need John McCain
4) Popes are named Paul not Presidents and how can we put “I heart” and “Huckabee” into a headline just one more time?

That is your mass media coverage of the election in a snapshot. OK, I will say that at least Chris Matthews has not yet said “France surrenders” on the air, but with the weird statements he has been making lately it is only a matter of time!

Feeling Pretty Sick - Quick Update

February 7th, 2008

Hello all,

Sorry the updates slowed down today, it probably will continue to be slow here for the rest of today into tomorrow unless something changes. I am fighting something off and cannot hear out of my left ear right now. So, yeah, things are fun.

Hopefully though I will get some antibiotics and some drops for my ear and life will resume. Just thought I would give you an update.

Still Waiting On

February 6th, 2008

We are still waiting on New Mexico for the Democrats and Alaska for the Republicans. The delegate count for Dems looks like it will be a split but we won’t known until county-by-county is determined. In short, it is time for bed. I am nursing a sinus infection and need sleep. So thanks for sticking in with me tonight and come back tomorrow for lots of post-game analysis.

Obama Alabama, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Georgia, Idaho, Illinois, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, North Dakota, Utah

Clinton Arkansas, Arizona, California, Mass, New York, New Jersey, Oklahoma, Tennesee & American Somoa

McCain Arizona, Connecticut, Delaware, Illinois, New Jersey, New York, Missouri, Oklahoma

Romney Colorado, Mass, Minnesota, Montana, North Dakota, Utah

Huckabee West Virginia, Arkansas, Alabama, Georgia, Tennessee
