Obama Responds to Accusations Over His Patriotism

From CNN Senator Barack Obama responded to questions that he and his wife have shown signs of being unpatriotic.
After a town hall meeting in Lorain, Ohio, a reporter asked Obama about “an attempt by conservatives and Republicans to paint you as unpatriotic.”
The reporter cited the fact that Obama once failed to put his hand over his heart while singing the national anthem.
Obama replied that his choice not to put his hand on his heart is a behavior that “would disqualify about three-quarters of the people who have ever gone to a football game or baseball game.”
The reporter also noted that the Illinois senator does not wear an American flag lapel pin, has met with former members of the radical anti-Vietnam War group, Weather Underground, and his wife was quoted recently as saying she never felt really proud of the United States until recently.
Asked how he would fight the image of being unpatriotic, Obama said, “There’s always some nonsense going on in general elections. Right? If it wasn’t this, it would be something else. If you recall, first it was my name. Right? That was a problem. And then there was the Muslim e-mail thing and that hasn’t worked out so well, and now it’s the patriotism thing.
“The way I will respond to it is with the truth: that I owe everything I am to this country,” he said.

Barack Obama is unpatriotic and has no respect for the country he is running to lead. I’m a full Democrat, but if Obama wins the nomination, I will vote for John McCain! Not kidding! And what about the strong support from NObama’s buddy, Farrakahn? WAKE UP PEOPLE! NObama has a hidden agenda! He has done nothing for Illinois and completely ignored not only the black voters in our state, but also the kids killed at NIU partly because of his lack of support for the Brady bill.

I like that Obama doesn’t do the flag waving and Bible-thumping. It’s completely fake. Let’s never forget a neo-con condisers EVERYONE who does not agree with them 100% to be Haters of America and Freedom. Neo-cons sing their own patriotic praises as loudly as they can, as they shred our Consistitution. It’s past time for the rest of the nation to declare these sick bastards subversive and treat them just as we would the KKK and the American Nazi Party.

Obama has a habit of changing the subject instead of answering the question. First the other candidates and audience placed their hands on their hearts and said the pledge of allegiance and left them there as they then sang the Star Spangled Banner. He was conspicuous by not participating. His lips are closed together. He is not singing along. He excuses this by mentioning fans at a foot ball game not participating, only he was on a stage running for president. He refuses to wear an American flag lapel pin and announced last October he had decided to no longer wear one. It was an intentional decision. I think it shows a lack of respect and patriotism. His defense is that he said there are other ways to show your patriotism. Yes, there are, but the flag is a symbol of our country and wearing the symbol shows respect. He refused to answer the question about why he met with and accepted money from a radical anti-Vietnam War group, Weather Underground, who committed violent acts. He simply changed the subject without replying. His wife, Michelle, has repeatedly said she has never been proud of this country, and this from someone who went to ivy league schools free of charge because of all the aid available going to college. She has no gratitude, just an arrogant sense of entitlement. She displayed hostility toward the United States.I can’t help but wonder if this is a shared sentiment in their home. Concerns about him he calls nonsense without really answering those concerns. He ends with saying he owes everything he is (accomplished) to the United States. Yes, he does. He also owes his loyalty and patriotism to this country before any other country. He won’t answer that.

Obama’s words in an article on cnn.com “The way I will respond to it is with the truth: that I owe everything I am to this country,” he said. Obama said it was a speech about his love for this country that put him in the national spotlight. He shot down the idea that failing to put his hand over his heart during the national anthem makes him unpatriotic. “If that were the case, that would disqualify about three-quarters of the people who have ever gone to a football game or baseball game.” If it was Hillary giving such a response voters would be up in arms and Hillary would lose even the last remaining vote. http://www.cnn.com/2008/POLITICS/02/24/obama.patriotism/index.html So by Obama’s theory the three-quarters of the people can also become Presidents.

I admire Obama’s actions & his tenacity to do what is right irrespective of the wrath from the IGNORANT… That shows INTEGRITY of character.
A man who refuses to do things just for showcasing and appeasing the IGNORANT for whom patriotism is wearing the flag pin or sticking “we love our troops” stickers on their cars, for whom the baseless and often unsubstantiated praising of America values more than sound & educated criticism.
Hillary brings an amputated veteran on stage to demonstrate her patriotism to these IGNORANT & gullible bunch…. but to people like me… its a BLATANT MOCKERY of my god given intellect.
Well.. I guess that explains why the more educated, informed & higher paid citizens vote for Obama and the IGNORANT, Gullible & loosers in life vote for Hillary.

It is interesting that Barack Obama refuses to wear the US flag pin, yet so willing to wear “traditional Samali clothing” worn by Muslims in that country. If we are to embrace all other countries and differences, should we not also embrace our own. “Wear” is the consistency?
