From CIRCLE, the youth vote increased in the New Hampshire primary to 43% of eligible voters 30 and under, up from 18% in 2004 and 28% in 2000 based on exit polls conducted in the state. That numbers equates to 84,232 young people or 16% of the overall vote.

Specifically young people represented 18% of the total Democratic vote and 14% of the overall Republican vote.

For Democrats young people between the ages of 18-24 went 60% for Senator Obama compared to 22% for Senator Clinton and 9% for former Senator Edwards. Meanwhile young people between the ages of 24-30 spread 37% for Clinton, 35% for Obama and 18% for Edwards.

For the Republicans young people between the ages of 18-24 went 27% for John McCain and then spread 19% for Ron Paul, 17% for Mitt Romney and 15% for Mike Huckabee. Meanwhile young people between the ages of 24-30 went 37% for John McCain, 33% for Mitt Romney, 15% for Ron Paul and 15% for Mike Huckabee.

Culinary Workers Local 226, Nevada’s largest and most politically active union has yet to make its endorsement in the Democratic Race. NBC’s Tim Russert had asserted on the Today Show that the union was going to come out for Barack Obama, but with Hillary Clinton’s upset in New Hampshire the Politico is reporting the decision hasn’t yet been made.

The union represents from 60,000 casino and hotel workers.

Meanwhile Ben Smith at the Politico reports that the SEIU union in Nevada has come out for Barack Obama. It only has a quarter of the members of the Culinary union.

After a few days of commentators on MSNBC praising Barack Obama’s strategy of not using race to divide the electorate, host Chris Matthews appeared on the networks Morning Joe program and claimed New Hampshire voters lied to pollsters because they were afraid to admit their racist feelings about voting for an african american. What are they putting in the water over there?

It wasn’t the only odd bit of logic or outrageous claim made by Matthews this morning. Rapid City Journal also saw the broadcast and recapped it quite well.

“She didn’t win on her merit,” Matthews said. “It was about the humiliation of Bill Clinton.”

Well,OK. But it doesn’t say much about Hillary, or New York voters.

Nor does Matthews’ position on the alleged polling lies say much about the strong turnout of women voters for Hillary in New Hampshire. But Matthews has it figured: Dumb voters in New York. Racists liars in New Hampshire. And a woman who isn’t even qualified for the Senate now back in the race for president. It beats simply saying you were wrong, I guess.

Matthews also said that from now on Obama would have to take 10% “off the white vote” in remaining states when looking at polls.

It is almost impossible to convey just how wrong everyone, including me, got it wrong in New Hampshire. Just dead wrong! Goes to show what any of us know.

When it comes to Senator Clinton I have to say this. I have never seen anyone take such a massive beating in the press, on the blogs, by her opponents, by the people themselves showing up to boo and protest, than she took after Iowa. When people asked me what the signifigance was going to be from Iowa I did not say it was delegates, I did not say it was a sense of the electorate, I did not say it was anything substantial when it comes to voting. I said it would be the media that would go on to crown the winner the victor and pummel the opposition. Boy was that an understatement.

From ABC News Bill Clinton unloads on Barack Obama’s perceived free-ride from the press. Calls Obama’s candidacy and the press coverage “Big Fairy Tale”.

“It is wrong that Senator Obama got to go through 15 debates trumpeting his superior judgment and how he had been against the war in every year, enumerating the years, and never got asked one time–not once, ‘Well, how could you say that when you said in 2004 you didn’t know how you would have voted on the resolution? You said in 2004 there was no difference between you and George Bush on the war. And you took that speech you’re now running on off your Web site in 2004. And there’s no difference in your voting record and Hillary’s ever since.’”

Bill was then asked about Mark Penn’s “where’s the bounce” memo and 42 went off. “The bounce always occurs on the second day not the first day,” Mr. Clinton said, conceding the mistake before turning the table on the questioner and the Obama camp. “What did you think about the Obama thing calling Hillary the senator from Punjab? Did you like that? Or what about the Obama handout that was covered up, the press never reported on, implying that I was a crook. Scouring me-scathing criticism over my financial reports. Ken Starr spent $70 million to find out that I wouldn’t take a nickel to see the cow jump over the moon.”

“So you can take a shot at Mark Penn if you want. It wasn’t his best day. He was hurt. He felt badly we didn’t do better in Iowa,” Mr. Clinton explained during the forum. “But the idea that one of these campaigns is positive and the other is negative when I know the reverse is true and I have seen it and I have been blistered by it for months is a little tough to take just because of the sanitizing coverage that’s in the media doesn’t mean the facts aren’t out there.”
