John McCain vs. James Dobson
January 16th, 2007
It seems like members on both sides of the isle are beginning to line up under their candidates or at the very least are lining up against the candidates they know they won’t vote for. Prime example? Conservative Christian leader James Dobson recently said he would not vote for Senator John McCain under any circumstances. His reason? He told KCBI radio it was because McCain does not support traditional marriage values and said he has prayed “we won’t get stuck with him.”
The McCain response? That he would like to continue to “mend fences” with Dobson and others.
To editorialize I want to note what a good job Mitt Romney did at taking most of the steam out of McCain’s run back in November. The continued revelations of Romney’s not so conservative past have swung the pendulum back, however, his early attacks against the Senator have definitely helped give rise to many conservatives angst relating to McCain.
