Hillary’s Fireside Chats

January 23rd, 2007

I joined in on Hillary Clinton’s “Conversation” with voters tonight. I have to say I was pretty impressed with the live Web chat which I found, well I will be honest, stupid when I first heard about it. I don’t know why I thought it was stupid. It could be because when you goto John Edwards site it is one new Web gadget after another with no real point. I thought this could just be one more thing. I will say that the video worked great, looked good and Ms. Clinton basically just sat down, answered questions and talked about her ideas in pretty basic but well informed chunks. She needs to stop emphasizing “that this is a conversation” so often, but I get it, that is the point.

I don’t know how scripted, to be honest, this whole thing is/was. For all I know they basically said “okay, we will field a question about X and Y and then Z” but I have no idea if that is the case so I am just going to say, job well done. Good use of technology, good idea and well executed. Looks like they are archiving these on her site.
