McCain Attacks Cheney and Rumsfeld

January 23rd, 2007

Well this is interesting. Senator McCain has lost a little of his “Maverick” appeal lately in the media. Less stories about him going against the grain and more of his sidling up to the President. You can argue both ways on how/why that has happened, if it is accurate or not but according to Roger Simon writer in the Politico McCain may have just given the media a reason not to write the Senator off as an administration lackey.

McCain for the first time said the Iraq war was terribly mishandled and blamed the Vice President and the Secretary of Defense for its execution. He said that the President is ultimately responsible but that he was not served well by either advisor. He also noted “Rumsfeld will go down in history, along with McNamara, as one of the worst secretaries of defense in history.”

There is plenty more but you need to head over to Politico to read it.
