Clinton’s Timbaland/Profanity Problem
May 7th, 2007
As I pointed out during the Don Imus controversy Sen Clinton & Obama, who both called for the ouster of the radio personality, should & would face some tuff questions about whom they have associated with. Obama was caught in a photo with rapper Ludacris during a fundraiser & Sen. Clinton had a fundraiser thrown by rapper Timbaland which brought in $800,000.
Both wrappers have used explicit lyrics on their albums including the same language used by Don Imus. The Family Research Council & other groups are now calling on Clinton to return the money raised or her campaign.
Perhaps more unfortunate for Clinton the the association was how her campaign handled the response. The following is from the article:
The e-mail also provided a contact name in the Clinton camp for the council’s rank and file to inundate with e-mail complaints: campaign volunteer coordinator Ron Schneider. The alert pointed out what the council termed “Clinton’s double standards,†and urged supporters to “e-mail the Hillary for President Exploratory Committee offices and ask her to return the $800,000 she received with Timbaland’s help.†Sure enough, Schneider found his e-mail in-box overrun with outraged missives demanding that Clinton return the money. And that’s when Schneider apparently took his own detour into foul-mouthed speech. According to the Family Research Council’s vice president for government affairs, Tom McClusky, the Clinton campaign official called him with a long tirade against the group and its aims. “He made it clear what he thinks of a group like ours and he asked me at one point ‘whether any of your constituents would support Clinton anyway,’ †says McClusky. “Every other word was the F-bomb.â€Â
Clinton campaign spokesman Phil Singer returned a call placed to Schneider and says that such an outburst “isn’t consistent with the kind of tone we set on this campaign.†He declined to comment further.
Frankly the profanity laden phone call by a Clinton operative, if that was truly what happened, was probably more damaging then being seen with a rapper. It is not only unprofessional but it will only serve to ignite the Senators detractors even more.
