Clinton’s NY D.C. Feud?
May 28th, 2007
Thats what is being reported in the NY Post where “sources” are saying the staffers in NY who got her elected in the state are fighting those who are trying to run her national campaign out of Washington.
My guess? There are one or two disgruntled staffers who possibly 1) want more media spotlight attention paid to the NY operation, 2) are afraid if Clinton gets elected all the spotlight will be on the Washington team 3) got into a fight with one of the higher ups and decided to leak this thought to the post, 4) was recently fired or believes they will be let go.
I don’t doubt there are campaign troubles. Campaigns more often than not have these kinds of squabbles especially between those who came in from a statewide campaign feeling like they are battle worn and ready for a national. A telltale sign that it is someone who is disgruntled though is the following paragraph:
“When you’re out talking to real Democrats in the field, you hear them say, ‘She has no pulse. Just polls.’ Did you see how she voted on the Iraq resolution? . . . She waited to see how [Barack] Obama voted before she did. So calculated even on such a core issue,” the source said.
If you are a tried and true staffer who is a year and a half ahead of an election you don’t start publicly announcing trouble ahead in the water for a campaign you believe in. Those are the kind of leaks you give two weeks out when you try and lower expectations or save a sinking ship.
