Morning Campaign Brew – 9/21/2007

- Elizabeth Edwards argued yesterday that Clinton’s Health Care proposal was a rip-off of her husbands. The greater question is, what is a rip-off of Mitt Romney’s? The former Gov. has been digging into Clinton over her proposal but independent analysis of his own plan for Massachusetts shows some striking similarities.
- An ad taken out by MoveOn.org against Gen. Patraeus was met with condemnation in the Senate yesterday. Clinton & Dodd voted against the measure while Barack Obama & Joe Biden abstained.
- Barack Obama has revived his donor matching program, this time the system links donors up with one another.
- McCain is hitting Giuliani on guns.
Polling
- A new Harris Interactive Poll has Sen. Clinton (46%) gaining her lead over Barack Obama (25%) of those surveyed. The survey also broke down age. Of those 18-29 Barack Obama received 42% of support to Clinton’s 37%. The article linked above highlights this point because of Obama’s strength with the caveat that this group is less likely to actually vote.
I actually think the interesting point is that Obama is only ahead 5% with those polled in this age group. Interesting because this is where his support is supposed to be the largest. If this is a representation (grain of salt, grain of salt) of the voting public then the next bit doesn’t help Obama. Of those surveyed in the most likely group to vote, 61+, Clinton leads 56% to Obama’s 16%. But it is John Edwards who is in second place at 29%. No word on the baby boomers.
On the Trail
